Fracas erupted at Ng’araria Girls Secondary School; Kandara Constituency Tallying Center after the area MP had a physical fight with the returning officer Mr Martin Malonza.
According to the returning officer, Mrs Wahome accosted him just outside the tallying center when he was about to take the results to Nairobi.
Mr Malonza said the MP blocked the road using her vehicles making it difficult for him and the security personnel that was seeing him off a move that forced him to come out of the vehicle.
“It is then that the MP started confronting me, grabbing my by the neck to an extent that my coat was badly torn,” Mr Malonza Said.
He said the MP was mad at him because he refused to keep waiting for her at the tallying officer citing that she (the MP) had instructed the Jubilee party chief agent not to append his signature to the form 34B until she personally arrived at the center.
“The chief agent for the Jubilee party kept on refusing to sign the form claiming that he had instructions from the MP not to do so until she arrived.
“Since we had waited for her close to three hours I was left with no alternative other than including the agent’s reason for refusing to sing in the form,” the returning officer said.
However moments after leaving the center, Mr Malonza said, he met with the MP who blocked the road and started confronting him in the presence of the electoral officers, election officers and the police officers who were manning the center.
A police officer who requested anonymity since he is not allowed to address the media told the Nation that he witnessed the whole saga citing that the police intervened and soothed the MP to stop the fracas.
Asked whether he had recorded a statement, Mr Malonza said he would do so after availing the results at the Bomas of Kenya, the National tallying center.
“Due to time constraint, I could not manage to record a statement as I was taking the results to Nairobi but I talked to the area OCPD over the matter and once I’m through I will launch record one,” he said
Mrs Wahome could not be reached for a comment after our calls went unanswered and she did not reply our text messages.
